WHAT IS TMS?

Find freedom without side-effects.

Depression affects roughly 1 in 15 adults. But not everyone responds to treatment the same way. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) goes beyond chemicals and talk-therapy to provide safe and lasting relief with no-strings attached.

By sending magnetic pulses to regions of the brain that regulate mood, TMS offers a non-invasive antidote to symptoms of depression.

Healing Stories

It’s like coming out of a shell.

There are so many people who suffer from depression that can be helped by TMS.

Why TMS?

Clinically-proven: 75% of Deep TMS patients have reported improvements in symptoms.

Pain-free: TMS does not cause pain and is administered in a safe environment. While the sensation of magnetic pulses may feel a little funny at first, most patients acclimate fairly quickly.

Rapid relief: Patients often report improvement in symptoms as soon as four weeks into active treatment.

What can TMS treat?

Depression – A safe and FDA-cleared treatment for symptoms of depression, including sadness, lack of hope, loss of interest, loss of energy, difficulty concentrating, and self-harming thoughts.

OCD – A safe and FDA-cleared treatment for symptoms of OCD, including fear of contamination, constant worrying, counting, mental rituals, and taboo thoughts.

Patient Story

A RECENT EXPERIENCE

“Before TMS, I had tried every medication available and ECT for 20 years of depression and OCD. None were effective at keeping me functioning in my job or my social circle. At the lowest points, I had little desire to stay alive.

…[But] Accelerated TMS worked. In 5 days, I was 100% myself again. It’s so much like a fairy tale that I feel silly saying it, it was astonishing. The following year, it worked the same again – it’s been 4 great years. My work is now meaningful, my relationships are healthy, and my life is full. My life has been changed and opened up dramatically in new ways that I never dreamed would be possible thanks to the treatment I received from the Hudson Mind team. I couldn’t be grateful enough to have my life back.”

Types of TMS Treatment

Standard TMS

36 sessions in 8-10 weeks
  • Treatment Schedule
Treatment is delivered once per day over the course of 8-10 weeks (36 total), depending on your specific diagnosis protocol. Each treatment duration ranges from 8-22 minutes.
  • Information
TMS has been widely studied since 1985, but was FDA approved for depression in 2008. Today, close to 100 thousand people have been treated by TMS.
  • Insurance Coverage
Standard TMS is FDA approved and covered by most insurances.

Accelerated TMS

50 sessions in 5 days
  • Treatment Schedule
Treatment is delivered through a fixed, condensed/rapid schedule. You will come in for 50 treatments over the course of 5 days in one week (10 treatments per day, each spaced out by 50 minutes).
  • Information
SAINT protocol, accelerated TMS, has been found to be a quicker and more effective way to achieve remission.
  • Insurance Coverage
Multiple treatments in a day are considered off-label and so accelerated programs are cash pay only.

Saint Protocol

Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy

A recent groundbreaking study at Stanford University found that a series of accelerated rapid TMS treatments spread out over consecutive days had significant results in remission rates. At Hudson Mind we are proud to offer our accelerated treatment modeled off of the SAINT treatment.

Common Questions

The most common side effects reported are headaches, fatigue, light nausea, and jaw pain. If you feel any discomfort, it is okay to take over-the-counter pain relievers, like Tylenol or Advil.

TMS does not hurt. Although some patients describe the feeling of TMS as “uncomfortable,” most people acclimate after their first couple of sessions.

Though rare, TMS patients may experience an increased risk of seizures. It’s important to be as communicative as possible with your technician, especially if you undergo any changes in medication, sleep, or drug/alcohol consumption. Depending on the differences you report, your technician may advise skipping a day of treatment. Any risks will be thoroughly covered in your initial consultation.
